István Ratkó
He was a beloved mathematics teacher for the students of Berzsenyi High School for 12 years.
Between 1972 and 1998, he was a scientific associate at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Computer Science and Automation Research Institute (SZTAKI). In 1978, he also started working for the National Institute of Rheumatology and Physiotherapy (ORFI); he participated in the development of several medical computer systems at SZTAKI.
He wrote his doctoral and candidate theses on the medical applications of mathematics and computer science (ELTE, 1978; MTA, 1985).
He has taught at the Számalk Education and Consultation Center and at the Gábor Dénes College (GDF) since 1998. He is a college professor at the GDF.
Founder of the later-named István Ratkó Workshop on Interdisciplinary Applications of Mathematics at the GDF; the GDF (later GDE: University) and the Workshop organize an annual "István Ratkó Memorial Evening".
- Until the end of his life, he was an enthusiastic promoter of the works of his talented, tragically deceased brother, József Ratkó.
