  • Between 1970 and 1975, he taught Hungarian and history in Bács-Kiskun County.
    In 1975, he changed careers and worked for 46 years at the Katona József County Library in Kecskemét. From 1977, he headed the children's library (he launched the storytelling movement, the Kazinczy Szép pronunciation competition; he organized reading camps at a national level).

    Between 1984 and 1990, as deputy director, he participated in the development of the professional program of the new county library under construction, the launch of computerized library workflows and services, and the introduction of the Internet.
    In 1991, he won the position of director of the county library through a competition, which he then held for five additional terms. In 1996, the new county library was handed over, and as director, he played a decisive expert and operating role in its large-scale cultural investment. Under his leadership, the library won European Union projects, and the library's mechanization developed by leaps and bounds: with the acquisition of modern machinery and the use of the so-called OLIB (Oracle Libraries) integrated system.
    For three decades, he participated in cultural field expert and specialist supervision tasks and in the development of cultural legislation (contribution to the accreditation of library quality management and quality control courses; organization of training courses; education - also in expert and specialist supervision courses).

    Between 2004 and 2021, he was the head of the working committee of the Library Service System (KSZR); among other things, they developed the nationally standardized small-town library service form; based on this, under his leadership, the renovation of more than 100 small-town and small-town libraries in Bács-Kiskun County was carried out.

    He was a founding member of the Informatics and Library Association (IKSZ) (1990); then its Secretary General, Vice President, and President (2019-2023). He initiated and implemented numerous library innovations (Library Supply Service System (KSZR), Internet Fiesta, National Library Days, Baby-Friendly Libraries, Library Cinema). Since 1998, he has been the curator of the library professional college of the National Cultural Fund (NKA), and has been a committee member for several terms. He is a delegate of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA) to the College of Libraries and Archives (2020-2024).

    Among his more than fifty awards, the most outstanding are: József Szinnyei Award (Minister of Culture and Public Education, 1996); Fényes Elek Memorial Medal (Central Statistical Office, 2001); Ferenc Széchényi Award (Minister of Education and Culture, 2008); Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary - Civilian Branch (Hungarian State, 2010); Bertalan Kemény Rural Development Award (Rural Development Society, 2015); József Katona Award (General Assembly of the City with County Rights of Kecskemét, 2021, 2016); Miklós Nagy Award (President of the National Assembly, 2021); "For the Library" Award (IKSZ, 2023). Under his leadership, the Katona József Library won, among others: the “Library of the Year” award (Minister of Culture and Public Education, 1997); the Bács-Kiskun County Award (Bács-Kiskun County Assembly, 2012); the Rural Development Community of the Year award (Hungarian National Rural Network, 2012); the “Qualified Library” title (Ministry of Human Resources, 2014, 2020); the Library Quality Award (Ministry of Human Resources, 2015).
