Tibor Pongracz
Between 1963 and 1973, he worked as a researcher in the field of mathematical economics (mainly macroeconomics) at the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development (ÉVM), then at the Ministry of Construction Computerization and Management Planning Company (ÉM Számgép). In 1969, he received his doctorate in mathematical economics.
Between 1973 and 1981, he was first deputy director of the National Computer Applications Office (OSZI) at the Central Statistical Office (KSH), responsible for the national development of computer technology applications and the management of relevant research and development.
From 1977 he was the head of department of the State Population Registration Office (ÁNH).
From 1981 he was the Deputy Director of the Financial Computing Institute (PSZTI); then from 1988 to 1991 he was its Director.
From January 1992, he worked as Deputy Chairman of the Tax and Financial Audit Office (APEH), while from February to 1993, he was the Political State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance in the Antall government.
Between 1992 and 1994, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Assets Agency (ÁVÜ). In 1993 and 1994, he performed tasks related to privatization as a titular state secretary.
Between 1994 and 1995, he was the CEO of the Computer and Administrative Services Company (SZÜV).
After 1996, he was the presidential advisor of EUROPONT Rt. (investment, construction organization, financial consulting), the chairman of the supervisory board of CAOLA-ALFA Rt., and worked as the chief economic policy advisor of the MDF parliamentary faction.
In 1971, he founded the Operations Research Department of the Hungarian National Academy of Sciences, of which he was chairman until 1986. The Hungarian National Academy of Sciences awarded him the Neumann Prize in 1984.
