Béla Pompéry
During his career, he worked in five professions: former capital city official (10 years), accountant and then chief accountant (10 years), business planner (5 years), IT systems planner (25 years), and finally, until his retirement, auditor.
As a domestic pioneer, from 1959 he led the organization of administrative tasks on accounting machines at the Organization and Administrative Automation Institute organized by the Accounting Department of the Ministry of Finance.
From 1965, under his leadership at the Chemical Industry Trust, and later at the Chemical Industry Computer Development Association, the unified information system (VIR) of the domestic chemical industry was developed, the basic principles and methods of which he taught as a postgraduate lecturer at several universities, such as the Technical Universities of Miskolc, Budapest and Veszprém, and at the University of Economics in the economics program. He organized and led the Gyula Organization Academy, which was successfully organized in Békés County for 20 years until 2003.
He has been a member of the Hungarian Society of Information Technology (NJSZT) since 1970; he was the chairman of the supervisory board for many years. He has been an active member (and honorary chairman) of the Informatics History Forum (iTF) since its establishment.
Honors: Neumann Award (NJSZT, 2000); Lifetime Achievement Award (NJSZT, 2008).
- He organized and led the Gyula Organization Academy, which was successfully organized in Békés County for 20 years until 2003.
- For several years, he was one of the organizers and leaders of the International Danube Tour.
- He lived an active, vibrant life until the last moment of his life.
