    After graduating from the Miskolc University of Heavy Industry (NME), he worked in industry. In 1965, he defended his doctoral thesis at the NME, and in the same year, his candidate's thesis at the Moscow Energy Institute.

    From 1966, he worked as a full-time and part-time lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology (BME).

    In addition to his work as a teacher and researcher, he worked for 10 years in the ministry responsible for higher education with educational and scientific organization tasks, including being a referent for mechanical engineering training.

    Between 1984 and 1990, he was the director general of the Bánki Donát Technical College. From 1990, he taught at the College and at the successor faculty of Óbuda University (ÓE) in Hungarian and English as a subject manager and lecturer in the technical mechanics subject group, almost until his last moment. He is a professor emeritus at ÓE.

    His research topics include: mechanical issues of asymmetrical plate and shell structures (models), and stability and vibration of sandwich-type laminated panels.

    He was the Vice President of the Hungarian Society of Mechanics from 1990 to 1994. From 2011 until his death, he was a member of the Scientific Committee on Mechanics of Solids and the Committee on Mechanics of Solids.

    In 2012, the Donát Bánki Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering established the ÓE Pomázi Lajos Scholarship for disadvantaged and needy students.

    His high-quality teaching work, outstanding research and educational organization activities were recognized with numerous awards, but the recognition and love of his colleagues and students was always more important to him.
