Date of birth:
1932.05.31.
Place of birth:
Sirok
Date of death:
2011.05.27.
Education, professional qualification:
  • mathematics and physics teacher - Eger Teacher Training College - 1953.
  • applied mathematician - ELTE - 1958.

  • In 1970, he was the chairman of the Computer Technology Subcommittee established within the framework of the national Computer Technology Central Development Program (SZKFP); his task was to develop a short-term computer technology program for teacher training colleges. (One tangible result of the program was the provision of ODRA machines to higher education institutions.)

At the beginning of 1971, he participated in a six-month study trip to the Computing Center of the Kossuth Lajos University of Science (KLTE) in Debrecen. After his return home, the Computing Group of the Mathematics Department was established at the Eger Teacher Training College (ETF) under his leadership, with an ODRA-1204 computer worth 12 million forints. The computing center, which had a staff of nearly ten people, primarily served educational and teacher training purposes. In the meantime, Imre Perge developed a Basic interpreter for the ODRA machine.
Its Computer Science Group played a decisive role in spreading computer science culture in the region: it held computer science courses, while they also conducted research work for external clients on their computers.

In 1972, he was commissioned to develop the curriculum for teacher training in computer science. In 1984, he became Deputy Director General of ETF, and in 1990, under his leadership, the Department of Computer Science was established – within the framework of its successor institution, the Eszterházy Károly Teacher Training College (EKTF).

He has published ten professional books and more than twenty studies. In 1993, at the initiative of Lajos Csőke, in collaboration with him, he organized the first ICAI (International Conference on Applied Informatics), which has grown into a series of conferences held every three years.

His work was recognized with the Tarján Award by the National Institute of Journalism and Communication in 1989.
