László Pap
After graduating from university, he remained at the Department of Wireless Communications at BME. He was appointed a university professor in 1992. He was the head of the Department of Communications between 1992 and 2008, and also the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (VIK) from 1994 to 2001, and the strategic vice-rector of the university for three years from 2001. Since 2014, he has been a professor emeritus at BME VIK.
He has been involved in the development of industrial devices since 1968. His research interests include spread spectrum communication and the investigation of new technologies that underpin new generations of mobile systems. He has participated in numerous industrial developments in radio and mobile technology. He has several inventions.
Between 1997 and 2017, he was a member of the supervisory board of Matáv, and then its chairman since 2001. He has been the founder and chairman of the Mobile Innovation Center since 2005. He is a member of the National Communications and Informatics Council (NHIT).
In 1980 he became a candidate of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and in 1992 he became a Doctor of Technical Science. In 2001 he was elected a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and in 2007 he was elected a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since 2008 he has been a member of the Academia Europaea based in London. He is the author and co-author of numerous professional works. His scientific and professional articles have been published in several Hungarian and foreign language journals.
His professional public activity is extensive. He has been a member of the Hungarian Association of Telecommunications and Informatics (HTE) since 1968, then its president. Since 1990, he has been a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Telecommunications Systems Committee, and its president between 1999 and 2005. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Informatics Scientific Committee. Since 1990, he has been a member of the editorial board of the World of Nature. In 1992, he was a member of the Hungarian Space Research Council, in 1992, he was a member of the Space Research Scientific Council, and his president since 2007. Since 1992, he has been a member of the international organization, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and since 1998, he was a Senior member.
His awards: Tivadar Puskás Award (HTE, 1982, 2002); Széchenyi Award (Hungarian State, 1999); Neumann Award (NJSZT, 2001); Dénes Gábor Award (Novofer Foundation, 2005); Officer's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit (Hungarian State, 2005); Hungarian Heritage Award (Foundation for Hungary, 2011); Hungarnet Award (Hungarian Association, 2016).

- He played for the Budapest Spartacus basketball team, also a NB II player. Later, as an adult, he was a pillar member of the KÜLKER SC team – the team also played in the NB II.
