András Nyírő
In 1993, he began to produce the quarterly multimedia magazine ABCD, of which he was the editor-in-chief.
In 1995, he was the founding editor-in-chief of INteRNeTTo; it was the first domestic internet newspaper. One of the concepts of the then-unformed internet news site, and later news portal, and the foundations of domestic internet journalism in general are tied to the paper - and its name. Under his leadership (based on ideas from others and his own), the model that later became the basis of Index.hu was developed.
In 1999, the newspaper Index.hu was launched, of which he was the founding editor-in-chief, but he left the newspaper a year later due to internal conflicts.
From 2000, he worked as a content development director at Westel Mobil Távközlési Rt., dealing with mobile internet content development. In 2004, he was a member of the expert group that developed the concept of the House of the Future to be established in Millenáris Park.
From 2004, he managed his own company, Nyírő Consulting Group.
In 2005, the European headquarters of the Swiss Ringier Publishing House established an e-media division in Budapest, merging the mobile content development of its Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Romanian and Serbian subsidiaries. He became the content development director of this e-media center; he soon compiled an educational material on 21st century journalism for Ringier authors. However, his assignment was terminated due to a personnel change in the management of Ringier.
He joined the Login Initiative project, founded in 2007; the project aims to provide access to the world wide web to local residents living in deep poverty - primarily Roma - in underdeveloped villages of Borsod County with devices and WiFi internet.
In 2008, he was one of the founders and leaders of the Internet Spread Foundation, which, as a continuation of the Login Initiative project, wanted to help with access with devices and Wifi; this so-called Wifi Village project ran until 2010.
In 2010, he was one of the founders of Appsters Ltd., which developed mobile cultural applications, primarily for budgetary and local government institutions.
Honors: Ferenc Erdei Award (shared, Hungarian Sociological Society, 1991); Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, 2004); Gábor Klauzál Award (Gábor Klauzál Society, 2007).
- Between 1991 and 1992, he studied political science at the University of Grenoble (later known as Université Grenoble-Alpes, Études des Sciences Politiques).
