Krisztián Nemeth
During his university years, he studied at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland for two third years. After defending his degree, he remained at the Budapest University of Technology (BME) as a doctoral student, and then became a lecturer-researcher at the Department of Telecommunications and Media Informatics (TMIT) of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (VIK). His subject area is computer networks, in which he defended his PhD dissertation in 2019. Since then, he has been working as an assistant professor at the department.
His main subjects taught are communication networks and C/C++ programming. In his capacity as a tank patrol leader, he helps first-year university students integrate into the university system.
In his free time, he works as the leader of a small team on the reverse engineering of the operation and structure of the country's first electromechanical calculator, the MESZ I (also known as: MESZ-1), which was dreamed up by László Kozma and completed under his leadership at the University of Technology in 1958. In addition, he is also interested in the history of informatics and telecommunications; he often shows a museum object in operation to his students.
Awards: Young People's Certificate of Recognition for Successful Education (BME VIK TMIT, 2007); BME VIK Outstanding Young Educator (BME VIK, 2010); László Kozma Memorial Medal (BME VIK, 2018); Tarján Memorial Medal (NJSZT, 2020).
- He was 9 years old when his parents surprised him with a personal computer that would determine his fate. The Commodore VC-20 had only 3,583 bytes of RAM, so there were very few game programs available for it. He was forced to write his own programs, and from then on there was no turning back…
- He completed his secondary school studies in the special mathematics department of the Fazekas High School in the capital.
