Imre Németh

Date of birth:
1956.
Place of birth:
Celldömölk
Date of death:
2009.
Education, professional qualification:
  • Electrical Engineer - BME - 1980.

  • Based on his results in the national high school mathematics competition, he was admitted to the mathematics department of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) without any entrance exams. However, after one academic year, he transferred to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology (BME).

His first job was at the Hungarian Optical Works (MOM), where he worked as a development engineer for ten years. In addition to his full-time job, he participated in the development of one of the first computer games, the world-famous “cat” game. He won first place in the Creative Youth competition announced by MOM. By the age of twenty, he already had patents and inventions.

In 1990, he founded a company called KVENTA Elektronikai Kft. with three partners and started selling computer products. Over the years, KVENTA Kft. developed a nationwide customer base; the company's portfolio included several thousand products. Seeing the potential for further development, in 1995 he reached an agreement with the American CHS Electronics Inc., which, in addition to purchasing KVENTA Kft.'s 50% share, also gave KVENTA Kft. 100% ownership of CHS Hungary Kft., which had low turnover and was operating at a loss. Thus, CHS Hungary Kft. came under the management of Imre Németh from January 1996. Under his leadership, CHS Hungary Kft. developed into one of the largest Hungarian-owned computer wholesalers.

His great merit, among other things, is the national success of the SULINET program.
