    Between 1942 and 1948, he worked as an assistant professor at the Budapest University of Technology (BME) under Farkas Heller.

    Later, he was a scientific associate and then head of department at the National Planning Office (OT).

    Around 1966, he worked in the Research Department of the Computer Engineering and Administrative Automation Company (ÉM Számgép) of the Ministry of Construction.

    In 1974 he became a candidate of economic sciences. In 1986 he became a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; at the same time he received the title of honorary university professor of the Budapest University of Technology.
    In 1984 he was a visiting professor at the Technical University of Munich.

    He dealt with general issues of planning theory, operations research, primarily economic planning and its information theory aspects. He is the author of numerous studies and has translated many gap-filling specialist books into Hungarian.

    He was the chairman of the Systems Theory Department of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from its establishment in 1971 until 1973.
