    1972-1973 között a TUNGSRAM Rt.-ben volt műszaki ügyintéző. 1973-1991 között a Műszaki Fizikai Kutató Intézetben (MFKI) tudományos munkatárs, osztályvezető, főosztályvezető, tudományos igazgatóhelyettes, majd tudományos tanácsadó. 1975-1987 között óraadó volt az Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem Természettudományi Karán (ELTE TTK). 1991-től a Budapesti Műszaki Egyetem (BME) egyetemi tanára; 1992 és 1995 között az Elektronikai Technológiák Tanszék vezetője. 1995-1999 között a Bay Zoltán Alkalmazott Kutatási Alapítvány Anyagtudományi és Technológiai Intézet (BAY-ATI) tudományos igazgatóhelyettese volt.

    He received his doctorate in engineering (1979), candidate of technical sciences (1980) and doctorate (1988) in the field of semiconductor devices. In 1998 he was a Széchenyi professorial fellow. Since 2005 he has been a professor at the University of Debrecen (DE); in 2005 he was a founding member of the Doctoral School of Informatics at DE.

    In 2008, he received his PhD in political science on the effectiveness of scientific research. He has published several books on microelectronics, electronic technology quality assurance and e-commerce, as well as nanotechnology; he is the author, co-author and editor of numerous university textbooks.

    At the turn of the millennium, in 1999-2000, he was the Government Commissioner for Data Management; in this position, he represented our country in the UN and significantly contributed to the development of domestic computing. From 1997 to 2000, he was a representative of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a member of the Electronic Devices and Technologies Committee, the Materials Science and Technology Complex Committee, the Electronics and Computing Committee of the Doctoral Council, and the Future Research Committee of the IX. Department of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He was the vice-chairman and then president of the Telecommunications Interest Reconciliation Forum. Within the international network of Hosts established to disseminate affordable telecommunications devices and applications, he was the president of the Hungarian National Host (MNH) association. He was a member of several international and domestic professional organizations; he was a member of the editorial boards of several international and domestic journals. From 2000, he was the founding and then honorary president of the Communications Interest Reconciliation Council.

    His areas of interest: physics, technology of optical and microwave devices made of semiconductors, their applications. His main areas of expertise are microwave measurement technology, sensors, metal-semiconductor transition. Under his leadership, the Institute of Technical Physics Research developed its high-frequency transistor family. He was among the first in Hungary to turn to nanotechnology; he organized an international conference on this topic and published numerous publications.

    In 2001, he received the Ányos Jedlik Award as a ministerial recognition.
