    After graduating from university, he continuously taught and researched at the Department of Telecommunications and Media Informatics (TMIT) of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) and its predecessors. He developed numerous subjects and subject programs. He played a leading role in the development of the technical informatics and engineering informatics training programs. Between 2004-2008, he held the position of strategic director of BME. Between 2010-2013, he was the deputy head of the TMIT department at BME, and from 2013 to 2021, he was the head of the department.

    His professional interests include data science, multimedia content analysis, intelligent search tasks. He has led several research and development (R&D) projects (e.g. analysis of road vehicle swarm behavior, Ericsson-BME 5G joint research and development cooperation, scientific processing of Earth system data, planning and preparation of the National Audiovisual Archive, system design of the National Digital Repository, research and development of intelligent data retrieval and data mining systems).

    In 1995, he defended his candidate's thesis in engineering science, and in 1996, he earned a PhD degree from BME.

    Head of the Data Management Working Committee of the Mobility Platform (expert cooperation on networked, intelligent, automated transport systems) operating within the framework of the Institute of Transport Sciences. Head of the Data Management and Communication Team of the BME Automated Drive Laboratory. Head of the Data Management and Communication Team of the National Laboratory for Autonomous Systems. Head of the MNB-BME “Digitalization, Artificial Intelligence and the Data Age” scientific workshop.

    Between 2000 and 2010, he was a member of the National Council for Information and Communication Technologies (NHIT); since 2019, he has been an expert on the Council. He was the coordinator of the implementation of the European Institute of Technology and Innovation (EIT), and between 2014 and 2019, he was the president of the Hungarian Association for Information and Communication Technologies (HTE), the Inter-University Association for Telecommunications and Information Technology (ETIK), the Hungarian Oracle Users Association (HOUG), and the vice president of the Mobility and Multimedia (MM) Cluster.

    He also played an active role in the management of domestic research and development: among other things, he was the chairman of the 2nd Program Council of the National Research and Development Program (NKFP), a member of the NKFP Steering Board, the chairman of the Infocommunication Technologies and Applications (IKTA) jury, and a member of the European FP7 and US NSF professional juries.

    His awards include: Kalmár Prize (NJSZT, 2006), Pollák–Virág Prize (HTE, 2009); László Kozma Prize (BME VIK, 2005), Tivadar Puskás Prize (HTE, 2014).
