    A chemical engineer specializing in the automation of chemical processes. After graduating from university, he worked at the Dunai Kőolajipari Vállalat as a plant engineer, then as a computer programmer, and later as a project manager in the automation of chemical processes until 1985.

    In 1989, he and his brother, János Kürti, founded KÜRT Ltd. for the repair of magnetic data storage devices and data backup. The Ltd. was transformed into a Zrt. in 1998; he is the president and one of the owners of KÜRT Information Security and Data Backup Zrt.
    In 2002, KÜRT won the Business and Ethics Award established by the Budapest Club Foundation and the Innovation Award of the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications at the 11th Innovation Grand Prix Competition. The company is the holder of the Family-Friendly Workplace Award. In its international survey, KÜRT was included among the Best Workplaces.

    In 2000, he was elected Vice President of the Association of Information Technology Enterprises (IVSZ). Since 2001, he has been a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Veszprém. In 2004, he became a member of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering and was elected a member of the presidency of the Association of Information Technology Enterprises (IVSZ). In 2005, he was elected a member of the Expert Group (PSG) of the European Information and Network Security Agency (ENISA). In 2006, he was elected to the presidency of the Central European University (CEU); he is the chairman of the Economic Council of the University of Veszprém.

    His awards: Innovation Grand Prize (shared, Hungarian Innovation Association, 1994), Kalmár Prize (János Neumann Computer Science Society (NJSZT), 1995); IT Manager of the Year (IVSZ, 1997 and 1998); Dénes Gábor Prize (Novofer Foundation, 1998); Business and Ethics Prize (Budapest Club Foundation, 2002); Széchenyi Prize (Hungarian State, 2004); Businessman of the Year Award (Ernst & Young – USA, 2004); Pro Informatics Award (IVSZ, 2007); Lifetime Achievement Award (NJSZT, 2023).

    • In 1990, it provided financial support for the establishment of the KÜRT Foundation High School.
    • In 1996, he established the Educational Foundation for Children of Gypsy Origin.
    • Since 2005, he has been an honorary citizen of Budapest's 11th district.
