Gabor Kornai

Between 1977 and 1983, he was a scientific researcher at the Institute of Economic and Market Research. In 1983, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Marx Károly University of Economics (MKKE), and then between 1983 and 1987, he worked as a research associate (statistician and software developer) at the International Institute for Applied System Analysis (IIASA, Laxenburg, Austria) on econometric model calculations of world trade in forest products and the spread of acid rain.

Between 1987 and 1989, he was a scientific researcher at KOPINT-DATORG Rt.; until 1989, he became its Director of Statistics and Analysis, and then its Director of Information Technology until 1990. Under his leadership, the transition from the report-based foreign trade statistical system to a customs statistical basis began.

Between 1991 and 1992, he contributed to the development of MÁV's Transport Management Information System (SZIR) as a director of Andersen Consulting Kft. (later Accenture).

Between 1992 and 1994, he became the development director of Hi-Care Ltd.; as a tender winner, he led the development of the Prescription Control System (OVER) of the National Social Security Directorate General.

In 1994, he was the founding chairman of AAM Executive Informatics Consulting Ltd., where he was the managing director between 1994 and 2004, and after the company was transformed into a limited liability company, he was the chairman and CEO until 2006, and then the chairman of the limited liability company from 2006.

In 2001, he received the title of Honorary Associate Professor of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Pécs (PTE). From 2001 to 2015, he was the head of the Department of Management Consulting at the Institute of Economics of PTE.

From 2000, he was the president of the Hungarian Association of Management Consultants (VTMSZ) twice.

Awards: IT Manager of the Year – Gyurós Tibor Award (Hungarian Association of IT Managers, VISZ, 2009); Consultant Lifetime Achievement Award (Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BKIK, 2015); President of the Year (Central European Business Center, 2017).
