János Kormos
From 1976, he was first a research assistant at the Computing Center of Kossuth Lajos University (KLTE), then from 1988 he was a deputy head, and later head for a year. He earned a doctoral degree in mathematics and computer science from KLTE in 1981, and a candidate's degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1991.
Since 1992, he has been an associate professor at the KLTE. From 1992 to 1999, he was the head of the Department of Applied Informatics of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, and since 1994, he was its deputy director. He had already participated in the development of information systems and the elaboration of educational topics as an IT specialist. Since the same year, he has been the head of the Department of Information Technology, which he established.
Between 2004 and 2011, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Debrecen (DE), and from 2005 to 2012, he was the Head of the Department of Economic Analysis and Business Informatics. Under his leadership, the Faculty of Economics developed into a nationally renowned, recognized educational and scientific workshop.
Since 2007, he has been a professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Probability at the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Budapest. Under his leadership, the introduction of the Bologna training system was successfully implemented; he managed the launch of several higher vocational training, bachelor's and master's programs, as well as English-language training. He played a pioneering role in computer science and informatics both locally and nationally - in establishing new departments and research groups, introducing new majors and training forms, and launching new fields and subjects. He played a decisive role in strengthening the field and the informatics profession, developing and gaining acceptance for its specific value system. His work as a workshop creator and professional influence were also significant nationally.
The National Academy of Sciences awarded him the Kalmár Prize in 2000.
