György Kirchknopf
His first job was at the Hungarian Optical Works (MOM) (1969-70), where his duties included maintaining the ZUSE 23V drum storage computer and stringing the write wires through the ferrite rings of the memory panels.
Between 1970 and 1982, he worked at the Industrial Economics and Operations Management Institute of the Ministry of Heavy Industry (NIM IGÜSZI), then at the Computer Technology Coordination Institute (SZKI) in the Computer Laboratory led by Győző Kovács. In the engineering applications group, he wrote programs for the institute's Siemens 4004 machine, and participated in the Institute's then developing remote data processing program. In the meantime, he worked as an assembler programmer for Siemens optical reading devices within the framework of compensation tasks between companies.
After that, he worked for the Austrian Diebold Parisini consulting company under the auspices of SZKI (they developed an information system for the computer network of the Austrian Post; later he participated in economic due diligence and strategic planning; he also took on the task of developing a controlling program package).
He later continued his activity as the managing director of Koechert Hungary Ltd. (1986 - 1991). In addition to the application of operational controlling, he developed a strategic planning system.
Between 1991 and 2003, he managed Diebold Management Consulting Ltd., a joint venture between the German consulting company Diebold Deutschland and Számalk Zrt. in Hungary. They were among the first in Hungary to create the IT background for performance/expenditure-based modeling of healthcare financing. (In about 10 years, these systems were introduced at most county hospitals, clinics, and national institutes.) In this regard, he also established an association (Hungarian Healthcare Controlling Association), where various healthcare institutions had the opportunity to discuss their experiences with innovative management.
Between 2003 and 2019, he continued his consulting activities in the company he founded (Hortor Management Consulting Ltd.) both in the competitive sector and for non-profit organizations.
He has presented his experiences during his career in numerous lectures and university workshops (e.g. at the National University of Public Service).
