    Between 1968 and 1969, he worked at the Statistical and Economic Analysis Center (STAGEK) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MÉM).

    He joined the Department of Computer Science at József Attila University (JATE) in 1969. From then on, throughout his career, he performed the dual duties of university lecturers at a high level: teaching and research. Working his way up the teaching ladder, he achieved the title of associate professor in 1984 and then the title of doctor in 1975. In 1983, he defended his candidate's thesis in the field of Mathematical Sciences at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

    He was the head of the Department of Computer Science at JATE between 1993 and 2002. In 1996, he received the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science scholarship. He received his habilitation in 2002. From 2002 to 2010, he was the head of the Department of Applied Informatics.
    When the independent Informatics Department was established, he also took on the leadership of it. He organized the University's IT education, successfully seeking domestic and international cooperation opportunities with other higher education institutions. His great work ethic and organizational skills were combined with a high degree of compromise and modesty.

    He was a lecturer and researcher in the subjects of automata theory, operations research and combinatorial optimization; he was a popular personality among his students. His results in automata theory and combinatorial optimization have attracted domestic and international recognition. His favorite topic is isomorphically complete systems of finite automata and theorems related to them. He has published more than 70 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He is the author of four university notes. He has held sales at 18 international conferences.

    He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Hungarian National Academy of Sciences, secretary of the Informatics Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, vice-chairman of the Applied Mathematics Department of the Bolyai János Mathematical Society (BJMT). He was also chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Legal Informatics Society; editor of the Applied Mathematics Journals.

    In 1987, he received an award for Outstanding Work.
