Imre Hutás
For decades, he has been a defining figure in Hungarian pulmonary medicine and health informatics. He began his career at the Pulmonology Clinic. From 1963, he was the chief physician of the János Hospital. From 1970 to 1978, as the chief physician of the National Korányi Tuberculosis and Pulmonology Institute, he expanded the institute's profile with acute care. In 1976, he received the title of university professor. Since 1987, he has been a doctor of medicine.
He was the Deputy Minister of Health from 1978. He worked as a State Secretary in the Ministry of Health between 1984 and 1987. As the chairman of the Computer Applications Committee, he did a lot for the development of domestic healthcare informatics.
He held the chair of head of the Department of Pulmonology between 1987 and 1993, and then participated in German-language education as a professor emeritus.
His research interests include the pathomechanism of diseases associated with airway obstruction. He contributed to the spread of modern pulmonary function diagnostics and the modernization of pulmonology IT morbidity and mortality databases. He participated in the establishment of Hungarian respiratory intensive care units.
He is the editor and co-editor of numerous books; the number of his publications exceeds 250.
