Miklós Hosszú
He first worked at the Miskolc University of Heavy Industry (NME), then at the Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences (GATE), where he is the founding director of the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science. University professor.
He received his doctorate from the Kossuth Lajos University of Debrecen (KLTE) in 1958, a candidate of mathematical sciences from 1957, and a doctorate from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 1957.
He achieved significant results in the generalizations of the so-called Cauchy and Pexider-type functional equations, as well as in the general solutions of the functional equations of bisymmetry and distributivity. The Hosszú function equation is named after him. From 1964, he began to deal with the modeling problems of operations research, mathematical programming and computer science.
He has been a member of the János Bolyai Mathematical Society since 1948.
In 1954, he was awarded the Géza Grünwald Prize.
