Pál Gyenizse
Between 1992 and 1999, he was the deputy head of the department responsible for education at the Department of Informatics of József Attila University (JATE), and an assistant professor. He led the largest number of classes in database exercises, but also held formal languages and programming exercises. In connection with the educational activities in databases, in 1998 he participated in the translation of the book JD Ullman, J. Widom: Database Systems.
His research topics include data mining algorithms, tree automata, tree transformers, term rewriting systems. He wrote his PhD on the topic of tree automata, tree transformers, term rewriting systems; his dissertation is titled: Decidability questions for term rewriting systems and tree transducers.
Between 1999 and 2001, he was the research director of Cygron Computer Research and Development and Trading Ltd. He led a group whose task was to study data mining algorithms, research them and produce them as ready-made components for the development of the company's product DataScope, which won two awards during this period (see below).
From 2001 to 2006, he was the programming director of GriffSoft Informatikai Zrt.; from 2006 to 2013, he was the development project director, and from 2013, he was the deputy CEO of software development. He managed and still manages the development tasks at GriffSoft Zrt., both related to the product (Forrás Ügyvitelis Rendszer) and other projects. He is also the professional and administrative manager of R&D tenders. GriffSoft has participated in numerous tender projects independently, as a consortium leader, and as a consortium member. During his development management activities, the company won several awards (see below).
Since 2011, he has been an honorary associate professor at the University of Szeged (SZTE) – he has been working as an external member of numerous joint research and development projects with the university and, since 1999, of final examination committees.
Public positions: Member of the Informatics and Computer Science Committee of the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1999, Chairman of the Operational Board of the Software Industry Innovation Pole Cluster since 2007 and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Southern Great Plain Regional Development Agency since 2009.
Between 1997 and 2002, he was the secretary of the Csongrád County Regional Organization of the Hungarian Association of Information Technology, and since 2006, he has been its president. Since 2013, he has been the vice president of the Hungarian Association of Information Technology, responsible for regional organizations, while since 2017, he has been the vice president of the Szeged IT community Creativ_IT (as a professional organization of the Hungarian Association of Information Technology), and since 2018, he has been a member of the Awards Committee.
For his work, the National Society of Hungarian Literature awarded him the Kalmár Prize in 1995.
During his tenure as Research Director, DataScope received the following international recognitions:
- In 1999, DataScope 3.0 won first place in the “Best Personal Productivity Software” category at Comdex,
- Also in 2000, DataScope 4.0 was a software finalist in the “Enterprise Product” category at Comdex.
During his development management activities, GriffSoft Zrt. won the following awards:
- 2004 XII Hungarian Innovation Grand Prize: “A complex IT production management system supporting passenger transport activities, developed by Tisza Volán Rt. and Griffsoft Informatikai Rt.”,
- 2005 XIII Hungarian Innovation Grand Prize: “Forrás-SQL administrative and professional integrated IT system developed and implemented by Tisza Volán Rt. and Griffsoft Informatikai Rt.”,
- In 2007, the South Magyarország Prestige Award in the Innovative Company of the Year category,
- 2008 XVI Hungarian Innovation Grand Prize: “Integration of a GPS/GPRS-based automated vehicle tracking and management system supporting the local passenger transport activities of the city of Szeged into the Forrás-SQL Production Management Subsystem”,
- In 2015, ITB Leadership Award 2015 Special Award in recognition of the system developed within the framework of the competition entitled "Development of a 3D scanning device based on Multidirectional Phase Contrast Radioscopy (TFR) for tire industry applications".
