  • secondary school teacher in mathematics and physics - ELTE - 1950.
  • Academic degree:
Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences - 1984 - Mathematical Sciences

After graduating from university, he was an assistant professor at the Department of Mathematics of the Technical University of Heavy Industry (NME) in Miskolc for 2 years. From 1952, he taught at the Lehel Vezér High School in Jászberény, then between 1953 and 1960, at the Teleki Blanka Girls' High School in Mezőtúr. Between 1960 and 1962, he was an assistant professor, university assistant professor, and then between 1969 and 1973, associate professor at the Department of Analysis of the Faculty of Natural Sciences (TTK) of the Kossuth Lajos University of Science (KLTE).

In 1973, he organized the Department of Computer Science at the KLTE, which was the only IT education unit in Debrecen for a long time. He led the department from its inception (as a university professor between 1985 and 1993). The BSC (Programming Mathematician) program was completed at that time, and under his professional guidance, he started the MSc (Programming Mathematician) program. He wrote numerous notes with his colleagues for the students of the new programs.

University doctor since 1962. Candidate of Mathematical Sciences in 1968. In 1984 he obtained the title of Doctor of Mathematical Sciences and was appointed university professor.

His main achievements were in Mikusinski's operator theory, but later his interests turned to systems theory and color theory. He achieved internationally significant results in the mathematical description of color perception, but he also dealt with automata theory and the foundations of digital image processing.

From 1978, he was a member of the presidency and executive committee of the Bolyai János Mathematical Society, from 1980, he was the chairman of the Computer Science Working Committee of the Mathematics-Physics Committee of the Debrecen Academic Committee, and a member of the National Association of Hungarian Scientists.
