Jeno Gal
In 1966, he started working at the Electronic Measuring Instruments Factory (EMG), in the digital development department led by Árpád Klatsmányi. He participated in the development of the first Hungarian-developed EMG 830 second-generation computer. His main task was to design and put into production the connections for magnetic tape and magnetic disk storage devices. He published several publications on this topic (Magnetic Signal Recording Conference, Industrial Electronic Measurement and Control Symposium). 10 EMG 830 computers were manufactured and put into operation. – He held the positions of department manager and deputy chief designer at EMG.
From 1971, he continued his work as a scientific group leader at the Computer Coordination Institute (SZKI). He participated in the development of the MITRA15 computer, carried out in French cooperation (which formed the basis of the R-10/R-12 machines).
Within the ESZR system, as an expert on back-up storage, he is a member of the C6 expert group. He participated in the development of the R-15 computer; he directed the development of the computer's selector channel and coordinated the microdiagnostic developments. He gave numerous lectures on these topics (BME Engineering Training Institute, Computer Technology Conference '74, Hungarian Computer Science Conference). He directed the adaptation of the local network in the development of the PROPER 16 personal computer.
He held the position of department head and then deputy director at the SZKI.
In 1981, he studied at the University of Essex (4 months) on the topic of "hierarchical computer storage systems" with a UNDP scholarship.
From 1991, as the managing director of MEDICONTACT Ltd., founded by the large trading company Orvosi Műszerkereskedelmi Zrt. (OMKER), he managed the agent network specializing in the trade of medical instruments and materials, representing foreign companies.
From 1993 - as Deputy CEO - he managed the wholesale IT system of the OMKER company, including the Black Board System (BBS) sales system provided to hospitals via modem connection.
From 1995, he worked as an IT senior manager at Coopers&Lybrand and then at PriceWaterhouseCoopers consulting firms, supervising the Lotus Notes groupware application system and the helpdesk. From 2000, he managed the development and operation of the IT hardware system for the greenfield factory installation at General Electric (GE) Power Systems (server park, LAN, WAN network); the helpdesk also extended to users of GE Power Systems' Eastern and Central European organizations.
From 2005, he managed the trade and technical consulting of HQ Pharma Kft.'s automatic molecular filtration systems in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as Managing Director.
Award: OMFB excellent worker certificate (National Technical Development Committee – 1975, 1982).
