István Frigyes
He started at United Izzó as a plant engineer (he worked on microwave measurements for two years).
Between 1956 and 1965, he was a research and development engineer at BHG (Beloiannisz Telecommunications Factory) (development of microwave circuits and systems).
After that, he worked at the Orion Factory for about 10 years.
After that, he was the head of the scientific department of the Telecommunications Research Institute (TKI) until 1983.
Since 1983, he has been an associate professor and then a university professor at the Budapest University of Technology (BME); since 2003, he has been a professor emeritus at the Department of Broadband Communications and Electrical Engineering (HVT). He was appointed to the university in a position advertised in the field of digital microwave telecommunications and distributed parameter circuits, and taught several subjects in his own composition (Electronic Circuits; Radio Systems; Communication Systems; he was the first to teach digital wireless communications).
He also taught for short periods at foreign universities under collaborative scholarships, mainly in France (Grand Ecoles Paris, Évry, Brittany, Sophia Antipolis); and conducted research at the University of London (Great Britain).
He is a public body member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA); he was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Telecommunications Committee for decades. He is a member of the Hungarian Association of Telecommunications and Informatics (HTE); he is also a member of the editorial board of Híradástechnika.
Senior Life Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers); member of the IEEE Communication Society and the Microwave Theory and Technology Society; he was also vice-president of the former for a period. He was the founder and president of the Hungarian chapters of these two IEEE societies (from 1960).
Awards: Excellent Inventor Award, silver, then gold grade (Hungarian State); Pollák-Virág Award (HTE, 1983); Tivadar Puskás Award (HTE, 1988 and 1996); Gold Badge (HTE, 1992 and 2007).
