György Falk

1975-1989 között a Gépipari Technológiai Intézet (GTI) Automatizált Mérnöki Tevékenységek Főosztálya kutatójaként elsősorban a számítógéppel segített mérnöki tevékenységek területén tevékenykedett (a 3D-s technológiák iránti érdeklődése ekkor kezdődött). Előbb a CNC maráshoz szükséges marópályák automatikus tervezését biztosító szoftverek fejlesztésében vett részt, később a rugalmas szerelőrendszerek elvi- és gyakorlati kérdéseivel foglalkozott. 

1989-ben kutató intézeti társával, Voloncs Györggyel elindították a Varinex Zrt. magánvállalkozást, ahol az igazgatóság elnöke lett. Elsősorban a gyors prototípus-gyártási megoldások, a térinformatikai rendszerek és a 3D nyomtatás alkalmazásainak területén értek el jelentős eredményeket. - Hazánkban a Budapesti Műszaki Egyetemmel (BME) közös projekt keretében üzemelték be az első 3D nyomtatót 1989-ben.

As a senior research fellow at BME, he wrote a university note, several book chapters, and almost 60 journal articles. He has given about 50 conference presentations.
He compiled the topics and practices of the advanced training in 3D printing, from which he holds theoretical and practical sessions at BME and other educational institutions.
Since 2015, he has been an honorary associate professor at the Department of Polymer Technology of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (GPK) of BME; since 2019, he has received the honorary title of "Industrial Professor" from the BME Senate.

He is the vice president of the Hungarian Innovation Association (MISZ) and the Mechanical Engineering Scientific Association (GTE). His company, Varinex Zrt., is one of the founders of the Industry 4.0 National Technology Platform (2016).

Awards: Technical Literature Award (Mechanical Engineering Scientific Association, twice); Tódor Kármán Award (Minister of Education, 2002); Industria Grand Prix (international industrial trade fair, 2008); Dénes Gábor Award (Novofer Foundation, 2017); Technology Development Award (GTE, 2021).
Varinex Zrt. awards: In 2000, it won the Innovation Award of the Ministry of Education together with BME in the Innovation Grand Prix competition; in 2021, it received the "Industry 4.0 Professional Medal".
