Pál Faklen
After graduating from the Marx Károly University of Economics (MKKE), he became a staff member and then editor of the university's newspaper Közgazdász, and from 1967 a staff member and later a reader's editor of the economic weekly Figyelő. In 1976, he was the head of the Advertising Editorial Department of the Newspaper Publishing Company, and from 1977 the director of the Hungarian Tourist Information Service. From 1981, he was the head of the department of the Newspaper Publishing Company (publisher of foreign-language newspapers). In 1985-1986, he was the director of Delta Szaklapkiadó, and then at the successor newspaper of Tőszaki Élet, Delta-Impulzus, and was deputy editor-in-chief until its closure in 1989.
In 1990, commissioned by Cédrus Rt., he developed the concept of the PC-oriented Alaplap magazine, the continuation of Mikroszámítógép Magazin, which played a pioneering role in the dissemination of computer science knowledge and was no longer financed by the NJSZT, the first magazine to be published in Hungary with a permanent disk supplement. One year after the change of ownership (IDG) in 1993, he established Új Alaplap Kiadói Kft. to avoid the merger of the magazine, and the magazine he published Új Alaplap remained the most popular domestic computer science magazine until 1996, with an average circulation of around 10,000 copies. As a consequence of the transformation of the computer science market, the magazine was only published until 2002.
In addition to publishing computer science magazines, he is the series editor of Alap Books (at Cédrus Publishing House), and the editor and cover designer of several books (Virus Psychology, Solid Beauty, New Virus Psychology, Virus Definition).
He was active in several professional organizations. Founding member (1970), department head, head of the mass communication committee of the Organization and Management Scientific Society (SZVT). Founding member (1975), board member and president from 1991 to 1998 of the Hungarian Advertising Association. Founding member (1988) and board member of the Hungarian Writing Studies Society.
