István Erenyi

Between 1968 and 1997, he was a research associate and later a department head at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Computer Science and Automation Research Institute (SZTAKI), then at the Measurement and Computer Science Research Institute (MSZKI) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Central Physics Research Institute (KFKI).

Between 1988 and 2007, he taught Computer Architectures and Modern Microprocessor Systems at the Department of Measurement and Information Systems at the Budapest University of Technology (BME), in Hungarian and English. In 1994, he was awarded the title of honorary associate professor at BME.

In 1982, he earned a PhD in the topic of "Development of Microprocessor Systems".
From 1986 to 1988, he was a visiting professor at the School of Computer Science at Florida International University.

During his scientific career, he has co-authored two textbooks and authored or co-authored more than 100 theses, conference papers, and journal articles. He holds eight computer science patents.

From 1998 to 2006, he held the positions of Head of IT Department and Head of European Union Department in the ministries responsible for information technology. As a Hungarian representative, he participated in shaping the IT and space policy of the European Union. From 2007 to the end of 2009, he was an IT diplomat at our Permanent Representation to the EU. In 2011, during the Hungarian EU Presidency, he organized the work of the EU Council's space policy working group as chairman. In 2017-18, he was Hungary's representative at the European Space Agency.

2011-től nyugdíjasként továbbra is IT szakpolitikai szaktanácsosként dolgozott az Innovációs és Technológiai Minisztériumban. A 2022-ben alakult Blockchain Koalició elnökségének tagja.
