Győző Drozdy

After graduating from university, he became a research assistant and then a staff member at the Central Research Institute of Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (KFKI). In the meantime, he taught Electronic Devices and Computer Design and Programming as a second-term teaching assistant at the Department of Electronic Devices of the Budapest University of Technology (BME).

1987-tól 1989-ig a Helsinki Műszaki Egyetem és a Finn Műszaki Kutatóközpont (VTT) Félvezető Laboratóriumában tudományos munkatárs volt. 1989-1993 között már tudományos főmunkatársként egy GSM rendszer-szimulátort fejlesztett a Telecom Finland számára.

1993-tól a Pannon GSM Távközlési Rt. alkalmazásában állt, mint annak egyik első alkalmazottja. 1995-tól a cég külkapcsolati és stratégiai igazgatója, majd vezérigazgató-helyetteseként felelt a társszolgáltatókkal és a hírközlési hatóságokkal való kapcsolattartásért. Az ő nevéhez is fűződik Magyarország első kereskedelmi GSM-szolgáltatásának elindítása, majd az országos mobilhálózat kiépítése, továbbá közreműködött a mobilszabványok kialakításában. Úttörő munkát végzett a mobil rádiótelefon-hálózattal kapcsolatos technológiák meghonosítása terén, és az ehhez kapcsolódó jogi és társadalmi kérdésekben.

For decades, he represented Pannon GSM in cooperation with the GSM Association and the European Telecommunications Standardization Institutes.

Between 1994 and 1998, he was a member of the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board of Antenna Hungária Rt. In 1995, he was elected the first chairman of the newly established Telecommunications Interest Conciliation Forum (TÉF), and then he was the chairman of the supervisory board of TÉF. From 2004 until its dissolution, he was a member of the Telecommunications Arbitration Court. Between 2008 and 2014, he was a member of the supervisory board of FHB Commercial Bank Rt.

2011-tól 2018-ig a Telenor Magyarország (a Pannon GSM jogutódja) vezérigazgatójának stratégiai tanácsadója. 2018-tól ismét vezérigazgató-helyettes egészen 2021-es nyugdíjba vonulásáig. Összesen több mint 27 évet dolgozott a Telenor Magyarországnál, illetve jogelődjeinél. Azután tanácsadó lett a cégnél.

He has published 59 papers, mainly related to semiconductor technology and mobile telecommunications.

2006-tól 2018-ig a Gábor Dénes díjakat odaítélő Novofer alapítvány kurátora, majd 2019-2023 között a felügyelőbizottság tagja. 2021 júliusától tagja a Rudolf Kalman Óbudai Egyetemért Alapítvány kuratóriumának.

Awards: Medal of Merit for Communications (Minister of National Development); Lipót Aschner Award (Lipót Aschner Foundation, 1998); Dénes Gábor Award (Novofer Foundation, 1999); Tivadar Puskás Award (Hungarian Association of Communications and Informatics, HTE, 2019).
