Laszlo Cser
His areas of expertise are manufacturing informatics, data mining and economic informatics.
He established and headed the Mechanical Engineering Informatics Laboratory at the Budapest University of Technology (BME) (1970-1989), then worked as a university professor at the University of Erlangen, the Helsinki University of Technology, the University of Miskolc, and then the University of Kaposvár.
In 1976, he obtained his MTA candidate's degree (in Mechanical Engineering), and in 1993, his MTA doctorate (in Computer Science).
He was the founder and first director of the Logistics and Manufacturing Technology Institute of the Bay Zoltán Applied Research Foundation, and then the Deputy Director General of the Bay Zoltán Foundation.
He participated in the accreditation and launch of the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPKE); he was a lecturer at the Faculty until 2014.
As director of the Institute of Informatics of the Corvinus University of Budapest (BCE) (2002-2013), he launched the five-year, then BSC and MSc education in the Business Informatics program, and led the first Doctoral School in Business Informatics. He is a habilitated Doctor of Business Administration.
His co-authored books have been published by Elsevier, the Friedrich Alexander Universität Note Publishing House, and several domestic publishers. – He is a member of the editorial board of several foreign journals.
Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Salzburg), emeritus member of the CIRP (International Academy for Production Research – Paris).
His awards: Kalmár Prize (NJSZT, 1987), Excellent Inventor Gold Medal (Minister of Education, 1989), Lóránd Eötvös Prize (government, 1994), Research Excellence Prize (Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Poland, 2000); Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (2010).
