Ferenc Bródy

After graduating from university, he worked as a philosopher. In the 1970s, he switched to the computer profession and was an employee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Computer Science and Automation Research Institute (SZTAKI) until his retirement.

He was an incredibly broad-minded researcher, with a wide range of professional activities. The Institute entrusted him with more complex tasks requiring great preparation. His solutions and programs were always based on a theoretical foundation, and he found an efficient implementation for them - whether it was a game program, a microprogram for network distributors, an arithmetic program package or a pure mathematical problem. His solutions provided a teachable (and taught) model. His program creations, writings, and his role in internal professional discussions elevated him to the ranks of the intellectual leaders of SZTAKI.

1988-ban megvédte Lokális hálózatok ütközésfeloldó algoritmusai című kandidátusi értekezését.
Eredményeit négy világnyelven, tömören, szellemesen és precízen publikálta és dokumentálta - ám mindig név nélkül; így az eredeti szerző kilétét szakmai környezetén kívül csak kevesen tudták.

Nagy hatással volt munkatársaira, sokan vallják magukat tanítványának.
Absztrakt gondolkodása kiemelte a kor számítástechnikusai közül. Második szakmájában is hasznos volt a magával hozott átfogó filozófusi szemlélete, általános műveltsége. Így született több, a nevével nem jegyzett, de keze munkáját egyértelműen dicsérő kiadvány. Az egyik jelentősebb: a Neumann Jánosról írt The Neumann Compendium című egykötetes összefoglaló, amelyet a Word Scientific kérésére készített Vámos Tiborral.
