János Biri
After university, he started working at the Central Physical Research Institute (KFKI)'s Measurement and Computing Institute (MSZKI), where he worked on the development of nuclear instruments. He was the head of the development of real-time peripherals.
From 1970, CAMAC led the development of real-time peripherals. This was the standard for large European laboratories (ESONE: European Standards on Nuclear Electronics). Biri represented KFKI in the ESONE committee for 30 years.
In 1976, a book written jointly with József Lukács was published by the Technical Book Publishing House under the title CAMAC Peripheral System. Several hundred CAMAC modules were designed at the institute and several thousand were manufactured. CAMAC modules were also produced for industrial applications, and these were used, for example, in the Paks Nuclear Power Plant.
In 1980, he received a shared State Award.
