Miklos Berenyi
Even before graduating, he had the opportunity to participate in the development of engineering application programs at the Institute of Industrial Economics and Plant Management of the Ministry of Heavy Industry (NIM IGÜSZI). He was able to utilize the experience he gained in statistical calculations while writing his university thesis.
His first job was at NIM IGÜSZI, where his biggest work was the development of a program for the static calculations of the Astoria underpass floor structure. Between 1966 and 1970, he received further assignments to perform similar work – he also performed the static calculations of the Blaha Lujza Square and Moszkva Square underpass floor structures. He also developed a program for the static calculations of welded steel box girder bridges, which was first used in the design of the Baross Square overpass.
From 1970 he was the head of the Engineering Applications Group and then the Department at the Computer Science Coordination Institute (SZKI). He performed static and dynamic computer calculations for engineering design offices in Budapest and the countryside. From 1973 his activities gradually shifted towards the development of operating systems. He participated in the development of the BS2000 operating system within the framework of the cooperation agreement between SZKI and Siemens (Munich), and then he also became involved in the development of the system's graphics software.
In 1981, he founded the Softcoop small cooperative with 15 computer technology colleagues, of which he was the vice president until 1988. (Softcoop is the fourth small cooperative in the country and the first in the field of IT.)
In 1986, together with METRIMPEX Hungarian Instrument Industry Foreign Trade Company, he founded a company in Frankfurt (Germany), of which he was the CEO until 1988.
He founded his own company in Germany at the end of 1988. He has carried out software technology development and consulting for numerous industrial companies and banks. Between 2003 and 2012, he participated in the development of the Z/OS operating system as a partner of IBM Deutschland.
