    From 1953 he was a student of the three-year Surveying Officer School, and in 1956 he was commissioned as a lieutenant. From 1956 he worked as a topographer and geodetic engineer at the Institute of Cartography. He participated in another military survey of Hungary. During the 1:25000 scale topographic base mapping, he measured and mapped the area of six map sections, covering an area of approximately 480 km2. In the meantime, he obtained his surveying engineer's diploma from the University of Civil Engineering and Transport Technology (ÉKME).
    From 1968 he became a sub-department manager in the scientific department, and then obtained his university doctorate. From 1974 he was the head of the photogrammetry department, then from 1979 he was chief engineer, technical deputy to the institute commander, and from 1983 he was deputy head of the Hungarian People's Army (MN) Cartographic Service Headquarters. From 1988 he became the commander of the Cartographic Institute. He retired in 1991.

    Between 1986 and 1994, he was the secretary of the Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Department of the Geodesy and Cartography Association, and from 1991, he was the executive director of HUNGIS (Hungarian Foundation for Geospatial Information) for 16 years. He was a founding member of HUNAGI (Hungarian Society for Geospatial Information). He played an important role in organizing the annual Szolnok Geospatial Information Conference and the Cluj-Napoca Geospatial Information Workshop.

    For his work, he was awarded the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals of Merit for Service to the Fatherland. In 1986, the Minister of National Defense awarded him the Ágoston Tóth Memorial Medal, and in 1991, the Miklós Zrínyi Memorial Ring. He also received the Lázár Deák Memorial Medal for his work in the interest of Hungarian cartography.
