  • After graduating from university, he was one of the founding members of the Electronics Group established in 1959 at the Central Statistical Office (KSH), which was transformed into the KSH Computer Laboratory at the end of 1963. He first mastered the programming of the Ural-1 and Ural-2 machines, then the programming of the Minsk-2 machine, also providing training to new employees. He is the author of the Minsk-2 programming manual. During the 1965 reorganization, he was transferred to the Computer Management Company (SZÜV) operating under the supervision of the KSH.

    At the SZÜV, he had several opportunities to learn about compilers for IBM, ICL and Gier computers, which later became his area of expertise. In the 1960s, he authored additional computer science books (COBOL, PASCAL, the new PASCAL generation and operating systems).

    He also participates in university education. For example, when in 1961 the Faculty of Architecture of Budapest University of Technology organized ALGOL 60 programming courses for its lecturers, Tamás Bakos was among the invited speakers (along with György Kiss and Gyula Lőcs).

    After the Computer and Administration Organization Company (SZÜV) of the Central Statistical Office, he became the deputy head of the Programming Systems Department of the Information Processing Laboratory (Infelor), then he held the same position at the Computer Application Research Institute (Számki), and later at the Computer Application Company (Számalk). He then transferred to the Accounting Education Department and continued his teaching activities at the Gábor Dénes Technical College (GDF).
