    Between 1964 and 1976, he was a research assistant at the Computer Science Center of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and then its legal successor, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, SZTAKI, and from 1967 he was a research associate.

    From 1978 to 1982, he was the head of the Computer Science Department and then the Computer Center of the Győr College of Transport and Telecommunications, and later the deputy director of the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science.

    Between 1982 and 1989, he was the deputy director of the Computer Applications Center of the Budapest University of Technology (BME); between 1989 and 1995, he was a senior research fellow, then a scientific advisor, and honorary associate professor at the Department of Industrial Management and Business Economics of BME.

    From 1995 to 2000, he was the head of the Department of Computer Science at the Technical College of Light Industry, a university professor, and for a few years, the deputy scientific director. Between 2000 and 2006, he directed the Institute of General Informatics and Multimedia of the Neumann János Faculty of Informatics of the Budapest Technical College (BMF). Between 2006 and 2008, he was the deputy director of the Multimedia Institute of the Rejtő Sándor Faculty of BMF. Meanwhile, between 2001 and 2011, he was a university professor at Széchenyi István University (SZE), a founding member of the technical doctoral school, and the head of the Transportation doctoral specialization. From 2008 to 2011, he was a professor at the BMF, then its legal successor, Óbuda University (ÓE), and from 2011, he was a professor emeritus.

    His areas of interest are: informatics, operations research, transportation science. He is the developer and instructor of 22 university curricula, some of which are in foreign languages. He has published 10 books and notes out of his more than 130 articles. He has given 130 conference presentations, half of which are in foreign languages.

    Academic titles: doctor of science (ELTE, 1971; candidate of mathematical sciences (MTA, 1984); doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1995); habilitated doctor (BME, 1959); PhD (ELTE, BME, 1995). He was a member of the BME Faculty of Transport, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and the Doctoral School of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

    He was a member of the organizing and scientific committees of several domestic and international conferences. He is a founding member of the European Asset Management Conference series and the organizer of several of their conferences. He is the founding editor-in-chief of the journals Acta Politechnika (ÓE) and Universitas Jaurinensis (SZE). He is the professional editor of BITLET, which is published as part of the Ötlet magazine.

    He was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Operations Research Committee and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Transportation Science Committee. Between 1977 and 1982, he was the founder and president of the Győr city and Győr-Sopron county organizations of the Hungarian Society of Systems Engineering, as well as a member of the national presidency of the Hungarian Society of Systems Engineering; he was a member of the Computer Science Committee of the Hungarian Society of Systems Engineering and the Operations Research Committee of the Bolyai Society.
