Miklós Ács
He carried out his engineering activities mainly in the field of mechanical engineering. Between 1955-57, he worked on agricultural machinery design and managed the machine station at the Mezőhegyes State Farm. During this time, he had significant patents in the field of special threshing machines and pneumatic grain transport machines.
He worked in the field of boiler design at the Chemical, Machine and Radiator Factory, machine tool development at the Machine Tool Development Institute, and custom machines and conveyor equipment at the Design Institute of the Ministry of Metallurgy and Mechanical Industry.
He was a correspondence aspirant in Moscow between 1962 and 1967. He defended his PhD thesis on “Simultaneous increase in productivity and accuracy of face milling by automating the process” in 1967.
From 1964, at the initiative of the OMFB (National Technical Development Committee), he developed computer technology solutions in several subject areas in the Economic Systems Technology Research Group (GRKCS), founded by the Automation Research Institute.
GRKCS merged with Infelor in 1968.
Between 1976 and 1982, he utilized his research results in the field of production automation in the transformed successor company, Számki, and, on behalf of OMFB, he helped to spread the R10 systems in Hungary, and was the head of the department dealing with the design of NC systems. He was the first in the domestic industry to participate in the design, investment and commissioning of a functioning NC plant system in Ganz-Mávag.
Between 1982 and 1986, he worked on the development and implementation of the Computerized Workshop-Level Production Control System (DIMACS - Dialogue Manufacturing Control Systems) within the framework of Számalk. The system was used in the peripheral production at Videoton in Székesfehérvár and in the parts manufacturing plant of the Ikarus Factory in Székesfehérvár.
Between 1989 and 2000, he participated in the adaptation, introduction and further development of the Swedish "RUBIN" computer maintenance management and registration program package at Dunaferr Dunai Vasmű.
He organized the National Automation Department of the Mechanical Engineering Scientific Association (GTE), and was the national secretary of the organization between 1961-86.
Between 1962 and 1965, he served as Deputy Secretary General for Natural Sciences of the Hungarian Society for the Promotion of Scientific Knowledge (TIT).
He has published approximately 500 professional articles and lectures in Hungarian, English and German.
