In 1994, the company was acquired by KFKI and ESRI, and in 1997, the Dangermond family (founders of ESRI) bought out KFKI's share of the business, and the company was then registered as ESRI Hungary Ltd. In 2004, the Croatian GISDATA (GDi) purchased most of the Dangermonds' ownership, making the company 82% Croatian-owned. This company was later (2017) renamed GDi Hungary Ltd., and the previously established GDi Budapest Ltd. was renamed ESRI Hungary Ltd., owned by Boran Loncaric and Esri LLC. Today, GDi Hungary Ltd. is the sole, exclusive distributor of Esri ArcGIS products and related services in Hungary. Their two classic markets are public administration and telecommunications.
